A Paycheck That Doesn't Stop When You Stop Working

Most retirement strategies ask you to guess — guess how long you'll live, guess what the market will do, guess whether you're drawing too fast or not fast enough. Guaranteed income benefits take the guessing out of the equation entirely.

What Guaranteed Retirement Income Actually Means

Guaranteed income planning is our term for the category of financial products — primarily annuities — that convert a portion of your savings into a fixed, reliable income stream you can't outlive. Think of it as building your own pension. You put in a defined amount, and in return, a carrier commits to paying you a set amount every month, every year, for the rest of your life — regardless of what the market does.

We work with pre-retirees and retirees across Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and southeastern Indiana to identify whether a guaranteed income product belongs in their plan, which structure fits their situation, and which carrier offers the best terms. We shop across 24+ carriers to find the right fit. Carriers pay us directly — there is no fee to you.

Why Guaranteed Income Belongs in Most Retirement Plans

The most common retirement withdrawal strategy — drawing a percentage from your portfolio each year — works fine in theory. In practice, it creates a problem most people don't anticipate: every month, you're watching a balance go down and wondering whether you're doing it right.

Guaranteed income solves that problem structurally. Your essential monthly expenses are covered by a fixed payment. Your remaining assets stay invested for growth, legacy, or flexibility. You stop watching the market like it's a second job.

The Certainty You Can Build a Budget Around

When your mortgage, utilities, groceries, and healthcare costs are covered by income that arrives on schedule — every month, for life — the rest of your financial picture becomes significantly easier to manage. You're not rationing or second-guessing. You're living on a number you know.

Protection Against the Two Retirement Risks Nobody Talks About Enough

Longevity risk is the chance you outlive your savings. Sequence-of-returns risk is the chance that a market downturn in your first years of retirement permanently damages your withdrawal capacity. Guaranteed income products address both. The income doesn't shrink when the market drops, and it doesn't run out if you live to 95.

Foundation First — Growth on Top of It

We don't recommend putting everything into a guaranteed income product. The approach we use segments your assets: a protected income floor built to cover what you need, with market-exposed assets on top for growth and the legacy you want to leave. What goes where depends entirely on your monthly income number — not a generic formula.

How We Find the Right Guaranteed Income Product for You

Not all annuities are the same. Fixed annuities, fixed indexed annuities, and income riders all behave differently, carry different liquidity terms, and serve different planning goals. Our job is to match the right structure to your situation — not to push the product that pays the highest commission.

Here is how we work through it:

  • We start with your income number — what you actually need each month to cover your essential expenses in retirement
  • We model what Social Security and any pension income will cover, and identify the gap that a guaranteed income product needs to fill
  • We shop that gap across 24+ carriers, comparing payout rates, liquidity provisions, surrender schedules, and death benefit options
  • We present the options in plain language before any product is purchased — you understand exactly what you're buying before you sign anything
  • We coordinate the guaranteed income layer with your broader income plan, including IRA and 401(k) assets, tax strategy, and Social Security timing

Who We Work With on Guaranteed Income Planning

Our guaranteed income clients generally fall into one of two situations:

  • Pre-retirees ages 55–64 who are starting to think about what replaces their paycheck and want to understand whether a guaranteed income product belongs in their plan before they retire
  • Active retirees ages 65–75 who are drawing from savings and finding the process more stressful than they expected — and want to lock in a floor so the rest of their assets can stay invested without the same pressure

We serve clients across the Cincinnati metro area — including Blue Ash, Mason, and Hamilton, Warren, Clermont, and Butler counties — as well as Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. Virtual meetings are available for clients across our 12 licensed states.

We Don't Sell It Until You Understand It — Completely

One of the most common concerns we hear about annuities is that they're complicated and hard to get out of. That concern is legitimate. Some products are structured in ways that don't serve the client well. Surrender periods can be long. Liquidity can be limited. That's exactly why we explain every term before a product is purchased.

Liquidity and Surrender Schedules

Every guaranteed income product we present includes a plain-language explanation of how long your money is committed, what penalties apply if you need to access it early, and what free withdrawal provisions exist. If a product's liquidity terms don't match your comfort level, we find one that does.

Death Benefits and What Happens to Your Money

A common fear: "What if I die two years in and the carrier keeps everything?" Most products we work with include death benefit provisions that return remaining value to your beneficiaries. We explain exactly how the death benefit works for every product we recommend — before you decide.

Your Comfort With the Product Matters as Much as the Return

We've walked away from products that looked good on paper because the client wasn't comfortable with the structure. A guaranteed income product you don't understand is not a plan — it's a source of anxiety. We take the time to get there together.

Common Questions About Guaranteed Income Benefits

  • What is a guaranteed income benefit and how is it different from an annuity?

Guaranteed income benefit is the term we use to describe the income-generating feature built into certain annuity products. An annuity is the contract — the financial vehicle. The guaranteed income benefit is what that contract delivers: a fixed, predictable payment for life. Not all annuities include a guaranteed income benefit, which is one reason it matters to shop carefully across carriers before purchasing.
  • What happens to my guaranteed income if I die early?

Most products we recommend include a death benefit provision, which means that if you pass away before you've received back what you put in, the remaining value goes to your named beneficiaries — not the carrier. The exact terms vary by product, and we walk through the death benefit structure for every option we present before you make a decision.
  • Is guaranteed income from an annuity taxable?

It depends on how the annuity was funded. If you purchased the annuity with pre-tax dollars — from a traditional IRA or 401(k) rollover, for example — the income payments are generally taxable as ordinary income. If you funded it with after-tax dollars, only the earnings portion of each payment is typically taxable. We factor tax treatment into the income modeling we do before recommending any product, and we coordinate with your tax advisor when needed.
