The Four Retirement Questions Every Pre-Retiree Has to Answer
Most people approaching retirement are asking the same four questions at the same time: How do I make my money last? Which Medicare plan is right for me? When should I take Social Security? And what happens to my family if something goes wrong? The problem isn't the questions — it's that most financial offices only answer one of them.
At A to Z, we answer all four. As Cincinnati's comprehensive retirement planning firm, we bring
income strategy,
Medicare guidance, Social Security optimization, and
estate planning under one roof. One conversation covers everything.
The Four Retirement Questions Every Pre-Retiree Has to Answer
Most people approaching retirement are asking the same four questions at the same time:
Do I have enough money to live on?
What happens if the market drops?
What happens to my money when I'm gone?
What happens if I need long term care?
The problem isn't the questions — it's that most financial offices only answer one of them.
At A to Z, we answer all four. As Cincinnati's comprehensive retirement planning firm, we bring income strategy, Medicare guidance, Social Security optimization, and estate planning under one roof. One conversation covers everything.

Your Retirement Journey
From First Conversation to Full Retirement Plan
Every A to Z client follows the same five-step path. Click each step to see exactly what happens — and what you leave with.
Step 1 — The Discovery Call
Step 1
A 20-Minute Conversation — No Pitch, No Pressure
We start with a brief call to understand where you are and what you are trying to figure out. You tell us about your timeline, your accounts, and your biggest concerns. We tell you honestly whether and how we can help. If there is a fit, we schedule your full planning session. If there is not, we will point you in the right direction.
Milestone: You know if A to Z is the right fit
Step 2 — The Full Retirement Review
Step 2
We Map Your Full Picture — All Four Pillars
In your planning session, we go deep. We review your income sources, existing accounts, Social Security earnings record, Medicare eligibility window, and any estate documents you have in place. We look at all four pillars together — because the decisions you make in one area directly affect the others. Most clients leave this session understanding their retirement picture for the first time.
Milestone: Complete picture of your retirement assets and gaps
Step 3 — Your Coordinated Strategy
Step 3
One Plan That Connects Income, Medicare, Social Security, and Estate
We build a coordinated written plan across all four pillars. Your income strategy is timed around your Social Security filing date. Your Medicare plan is selected with your cash flow in mind. Your estate documents are reviewed for gaps before anything is finalized. You see how the pieces connect before any decisions are made — and you receive a written summary you can refer back to at any time.
Milestone: Written retirement strategy across all four pillars
Step 4 — Execution and Enrollment
Step 4
We Handle the Paperwork — You Focus on Retirement
Once the plan is approved, we execute. That means Medicare enrollment, Social Security filing coordination, income product setup, account rollovers, and estate document referrals to our legal partners — all managed by the same team that built your plan. No handoffs to a call center. No forms you fill out alone. We handle the mechanics so the transition into retirement goes smoothly.
Milestone: All accounts enrolled, filed, and funded
Step 5 — Ongoing Partnership
Step 5
Your Plan Adjusts as Life Changes
Retirement is not a one-time event — it is a 20- to 30-year chapter. Tax laws change. Medicare plans reprice. Family circumstances shift. We stay with every client after the plan is in place, reviewing annually and adjusting when something in your life or the market warrants it. Our clients have stayed with us for 27 years because this relationship does not end at enrollment.
Milestone: Annual reviews, plan updates, and a team that knows your name

How a Retirement Plan Actually Comes Together
Discuss
We start by listening. Before anything is recommended, we ask about your timeline, your accounts, your coverage situation, and what you actually want retirement to look like. This conversation is about understanding your full picture — not selling you something.
Design
We build a coordinated strategy across all four pillars: income, Medicare, Social Security, and estate planning. Your numbers, your goals, your family's needs — not a template pulled from a shelf. We show you how the pieces connect before any decisions are made.
Deliver
We handle the execution — Medicare enrollment, Social Security filing, income product setup, estate document coordination — and stay with you after it's done. When your situation changes, we adjust the plan.
What We Handle —
So You Don't Have To
Income Planning
We build retirement income strategies around one goal: your money outlasting you, not the other way around. That means protected rollovers, guaranteed income options, and a tax-efficient plan built for the long run.
Medicare Planning
We're a licensed Medicare broker with access to 24+ carriers. We shop every plan on your behalf, explain the difference between Advantage and Supplement, and make the recommendation that fits your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget — at no cost to you.
Social Security Optimization
Timing Social Security wrong can cost a household tens of thousands of dollars over a retirement. Andy Boettcher is a Certified Social Security Strategist — one of relatively few advisors in the region with that credential — and coordinates your Social Security decision with the rest of your income plan.
Estate Planning
We coordinate wills, living trusts, powers of attorney, and probate avoidance through our preferred professional partner network, so your wishes are documented and your family is protected before you need it.
Our Preferred Professional Partners
These are the professionals and carriers we work alongside to deliver coordinated retirement plans — vetted, trusted, and organized here so you can reach them directly when you need them.

Hear What Our Clients Have To Say
Built Like Your Benefits Department —
But for the Rest of Your Life
Most HR departments handle your benefits, your retirement contributions, and your coverage all in one place. When you leave work, that disappears.
A to Z picks it up. Andy, Wesley, and Tami run a family office that functions the same way — one team, one plan, all four pillars covered.
We serve clients in Blue Ash, across the Cincinnati metro, throughout Northern Kentucky, and into southeastern Indiana. Virtual meetings are available for clients across our 12 licensed states.
Join Us at an Upcoming Retirement Planning Seminar
Our seminars are where most A to Z clients start. In one hour, you'll get plain-spoken answers to the retirement questions your current advisor hasn't addressed — income, Medicare, Social Security, estate planning, and how they connect. No products sold. No pressure. Just education.

Answers to the Questions We Hear Most
Will I run out of money before I run out of life?
This is the question behind every retirement plan we build. We start by calculating a sustainable income floor — guaranteed income that covers your essential expenses regardless of market changes. With $0 in principal lost across our client base, income protection is not an afterthought here. It's the foundation.
How do I know which Medicare plan is right for me?
The right Medicare plan depends on your doctors, your prescriptions, where you travel, and your budget. As a licensed broker, we compare plans across 24+ carriers and present the options that actually fit your situation. There is no fee for this service — carriers compensate us directly.
When should I take Social Security?
Social Security timing is one of the most consequential decisions in a retirement plan — and one of the most commonly mishandled. Andy holds the Certified Social Security Strategist credential and coordinates your filing strategy with your income plan, your Medicare enrollment, and your tax picture before recommending a timeline.
What happens to my family if something happens to me?
Estate planning is the fourth retirement pillar, and the one most people delay until it's urgent. We coordinate wills, living trusts, and powers of attorney through our preferred professional partner network, and we handle the probate avoidance conversation before your family ever needs it.
Do I have to come into an office?
Our Blue Ash office is open for in-person meetings, and we hold seminars throughout the tri-state area. We also meet virtually — A to Z is licensed in 12 states, and many of our clients outside the Cincinnati area work with us entirely online.
How do we get paid?
Companies pay AtoZ for matching clients to the right product; clients will never pay AtoZ directly.
